School Construction and Expansion Project
Learning English at an early age is one of the most significant and valuable opportunities a child can have in this rural region, providing access to further educational and vocational possibilities. In 2005, we started our planning and fundraising work to build a bilingual school.
In the summer of 2006, we proudly celebrated the groundbreaking for the first building of Tina's Pre and Primary School. We held classes outside on the school grounds while the building was under construction and then, on the classroom floor inside! In 2008, we built the first Rainwater Catchment Tank to collect water off the school building roof, the locally built desks arrived, and the students happily shared them three per desk. In 2011, we completed construction of a second school building, as well as a second Rainwater Catchment Tank. During the summer of 2013, the Solar Panel Project brought light to our classrooms. Construction of a third school building for 4th and 5th grade classrooms began in January 2014 along with work on an administration building and a teachers residence. In December of 2014, our school was officially registered with the Tanzanian Ministry of Education after completion of our construction projects. We hope to continue to expand the reach of our school and to offer more educational opportunities to the children and adults of this community. |
